Extremadura
Just been to Extramadura in Spain. While driving towards Manfragué Nnational Park, I pulled in to look at some mountains on the other side of a lake.
Wow! The place was full of Griffon Vultures - and I mean full of them. About 30 to 40 pairs as far as I could see.
It is going to take a while for me to get the hang of this, but I will definitely be posting some pictures of these birds after I have done some editing in Lightroom.

First post
Today, 15 October 2012, I decided to start a blog about birding.
I have always had a liking for birds, but I never was really into birding. Technically speaking, I am still not a "birder" in the trues sense of the word. I don't crawl around in the thickets, I don't go out in the rain and I don't get my camera wet.
I have a Nikon D7000 and an f4 300mm and that's it. But I hope to build up a good library of bird photos and show the best of them here.
Since all this has been happening since mid July, you can safely say I am a true amateur. Actually, the best photo I have taken is not of a bird at all. A hare wandered into my path and I managed to get a good shot before it scarpered.
Birds are harder. They can fly. They can fly fast! And I am not that quick yet.
